My Top Smoothies

My Top smoothies are the best! Don’t you just love smoothies…Gosh, it is certainly one of my go to’s, even in winter time. I get hungry quite early in the mornings, I even wake up because I am hungry! is that weird? Nevermind though, here are a few recipes for you to try out that has certainly have been my favorite over these last couple of months!

Don’t you just love smoothies…Gosh, it is certainly one of my go to’s, even in winter time. Smoothie bowls have become quite a phenomenon over the last couple of years. Masterpieces are created, whilst I don’t always have the time nor the patience. I get hungry quite early in the mornings, I even wake up because I am hungry! is that weird? Nevermind, though, here are a few recipes for you to try out that has certainly have been my favorite over these last couple of months! Easy, refreshing and not your everyday smoothie that you can whip up in a flash.

Recipe

Blood Orange Sesame Smoothie

Ingredients 

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt or soy yogurt
  • 1-2 dates
  • 1 tbsp nut butter (cashew)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup Blood orange juice

Coconut chia seed pudding

  • 1-2 tbsp chai seeds
  • 1/3 cup of water or almonds milk
  • 1/3 cup coconut milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp shredded coconut
  • 1-2 tbs honey or agave

Honey sesame crusted almonds 

  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 1/3 cup sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup honey or agave

Method

Smoothie 

  1. Blend till smooth, add more almond butter if needed.
  2. Decorate with extra blood oranges, honey sesame crusted almonds and chia seeds pudding.
Coconut chia pudding 
  1. Mix all these ingredients together and place in the fridge overnight.
Honey sesame almonds 
  1.  Place all these ingredients on a baking sheet and then bake for 8 minutes or so at 180 degrees celsius.
  2. Remove and then shake them up to let the honey cover the sesames and almonds.
  3. Pour out onto parchment paper and let it cool down.

Fig Coffee smoothie

Ingredients 

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 big fig
  • 125 ml greek yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp coffee powder
  • 1 tbsp nut butter ( I used cashew butter)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • cinnamon

Banana Bread Bliss balls 

  • 1 mashed banana
  • 1/2 cup mixed dried fruit and nuts
  • 1/3 cup honey or coconut sugar
  • 1/3 cup of almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 cup coconut
  • pinch of salt

Method

Smoothie 

  1. Blend till smooth, add more cashew butter if your smoothie needs it.
  2. Decorate with extra figs, greek yogurt, and honey!
Banana Bliss balls 
  1. Place the mashed banana, dried fruit and nuts, honey and almond milk in a blender. Add more almond milk if needed so that the mixture is complete without any clumps. 
  2. Remove and add the coconut, salt and vanilla essence. The mixture should be doughy, but still easy to roll into balls. If that’s not the case then add more coconut. 
  3. Bake for 10 minutes at 180 degrees celsius.

Tropical Chocolate smoothie

Ingredients 

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup cottage cheese or greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp cashew butter
  • 1 tbsp honey or 1-2 dates
  • 2 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder

Chocolate Crumpets

  • 1 mashed banana
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 2 tbsp coconut flour (shredded coconut/wholewheat flour)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp oat flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • salt

Tropical Salsa

  • 1/2 chopped mango
  • 1 passion fruit

Method

Smoothie

  1. Place all these ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Decorate with the tropical salsa, cashew butter, cocoa and coconut cream/Milk.

Crumpets

  1. Mix all the crumpet ingredients together, heat up a skillet with 1 tbsp coconut oil.
  2. Fry each crumpet till each side is browned.
    Serve with the tropical salsa, greek yogurt, and extra cashew butter.

Tropical Salsa

  1. Mix the two together and add extra honey if you like it sweeter!
    Coconut cream

DragonFruit Berry smoothie

Ingredients 

  • 1 chopped frozen banana
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 175ml greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tbsp honey or 2 dates (depending on how sweet you like it)
  • 1/2 cup of frozen berries (extra for decoration)
  • 1/2 of a dragonfruit

Method

  1. Place all your ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Add extra almond milk if the smoothie is too dense.
  3. Decorate with extra greek yogurt and some berries.

Strawberries & Cream “Milkshake”

Ingredients 

Milkshake:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp cashew butter
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/3 cup cottage cheese or greek yogurt

Strawberry compote:

  • 1 Cup sliced strawberries
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Single serving Muffin:

  • 1 mashed banana
  • 1 tbsp nut butter of your choice (I used hazelnut butter)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp coconut flour or oat flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Method

Milkshake 

  1. Blend all till smooth and decorate your glass with the strawberry compote before you pour it in.

Strawberry compote 

  1.  Place all the ingredients in a pot and let it simmer over medium heat till you have a jam-like texture. Remove to cool.

Single serving Muffins 

  1. Mix all these ingredients well together and pour into a parchment lined coffee cup. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Frost with Mascarpone cheese and some more strawberry compote.

Sweet Dukkah Smoothie Jar

Ingredients 

  • Chia pudding
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp coconut sugar or honey
  • 1 tbsp shredded coconut

Smoothie

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen berries
  • 1 sliced prune
  • 1 tbsp almond/ peanut/ cashew butter
  • 1 cup almond milk

Sweet spiced Dukkah

  • 1/2 cup mixed nuts
  • 1/2 cup linseeds
  • 1/3 cup chai seeds
  • 1/3 cup mixed seeds (pumpkin and sunflower)
  • 1-2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (add other spices like, nutmeg, cardamon)

Method

Chai pudding

  1. Mix it all together and then divide into two separate bowls, add 1 tsp acai powder to the one and 1/2 tsp spirulina powder to the other.
  2. Add more sugar if you prefer, set aside in the frigo to thicken up.

Smoothie

  1. Blend all till smooth.

Sweet spiced Dukkah

  1.  Roast all the seeds and nuts together for ten minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Once roasted and cooled, place into a food blender and blitz it up till fine.
  3. Add the sugar and the spices and mix through.
  4. Layer the jar with the chai seed pudding, caramel soy yogurt, or a mashed banana with nut butter, sweet dukkah, and your smoothie!

Tropical green smoothie

Ingredients 

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 handful of spinach
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp coconut
  • 1/4 cup coconut cream
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • vanilla essence
  • 1 passion fruit (decoration)

Method

  1. Blend all well and then pour into a newly empty strawberry jam jar. Decorate with passion fruit, coconut cream, and shredded coconut.

Coffee Almond butter Smoothie

Ingredients 

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 tub cottage cheese or greek yogurt (125ml)
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tsp coffee powder
  • 1 tbsp coconut
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • cinnamon powder

Method

  1. Blend all these goodies together and pour into a glass.
  2. Decorate with muesli, extra almond butter, roasted almonds and roasted raisins (bake in the oven for 10 minutes at 180°C).

Cashew Strawberry jam smoothie

Ingredients 

Smoothie

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup vanilla flavored almond milk
  • 1 tsp flax seeds
  • 1 tbsp cashew butter
  • 1 tsp coconut
  • 1 tsp honey
  • vanilla essence
  • Blend all till smooth.

Strawberry chia jam 

  • 2 cups sliced strawberries
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp xylitol or honey
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds

Method

  1. Place all the smoothie ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. For the jam: Cook all the ingredients except the chia seeds over low heat on the stove or in the microwave for 4-5 minutes.
  3. Add the chia seeds right at the end and let it soak up all the jam goodness and let it cook a minute or so longer.
  4. Decorate your smoothie with chia jam, fresh strawberries, coconut and cocoa nibs.

Milo Breakfast shake

Ingredients 

  • Milo shake
  • 3 tsp milo powder
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup cottage cheese or greek yogurt

 

  • Banana breakfast cookies
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 1 tbsp melted coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp almond butter or peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup mixed seeds or chopped nuts
  • 6 tbsp shredded coconut
  • 6 tbsp almond flour
  • 1 flax egg (1 tbsp flaxseeds blended into flour soaked in 1/3 cup water)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla essence
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon powder
  • Pinch of salt

Method

  1. Smoothie: Blend all these ingredients till smooth and decorate with extra Milo on top.
  2. Banana breakfast cookies: Mix all these ingredients together and then roll into balls.
  3. Press flat with a fork and bake on a baking tray for 10 minutes at 180°C.
  4. If you want your cookies to be drier, let them dry out in the oven for 40 minutes at 100°C.
