Sour cherry lavender ice cream

Sour cherry lavender ice cream is a combo that is hard to forget. The combination of flavors is just absolutely amazing. I was never a big fan of lavender just because of the obvious fact that it tastes like soap, but just a tint with the sour cherries kind of works for me. The french is quite into lavender, especially in Provance. We went to visit a couple of years back, and the smell of lavender is just so intoxicating.

Banana bread cheesecake slices

Banana bread cheesecake slices have been haunting me for a couple weeks now. I aced the recipe within the first try, but to shoot these beauties perfectly was difficult indeed. To capture their deliciousness was truly a challenge. Without melted chocolate or caramel to seal the deal...anything indeed can look delectable. But these do not need the glorification of caramel to make them look delectable. They already are, sans caramel and all.

Summer potato salad

Summer potato salad is just a perfect combo when evenings are being spent outside. Lately, we have been firing up the BBQ almost every second night and that is a regular when you live in South Africa. Some families BBQ almost every night, just because it is so social, and we are pretty social people. It has been quite a change when we moved to France because first of all BBQing for yourself is not a lot of fun, haha and secondly what do you make with the meat that you can eat with the leftovers the next day? Potato salad of course...

Gluten-free cornbread

Gluten-free cornbread is the perfect salad side dish around. We are such corn lovers in our household and would eat a couple of corn on the cobs per week. Especially my son, he just loves corn so much! I wanted to make a healthier, vegan and gluten-free version and the first go was a pretty good success. You can sub the gluten-free flour for normal whole wheat or white pastry flour for a more light effect.

Soft ginger cookies

Soft ginger cookies are just heaven in every bite. I mean, who doesn't love ginger cookies am I right. I could eat them like any time of year, not necessarily just over Christmas. They go super well with peaches and that's why I made peach nice cream and topped them up with ginger cookie crumble and it was super delish!

Pineapple upside down cake

Pineapple upside down cake has summer written all over it. It's light, decadent and has a sweet tang thanks to the pineapple. I am in love with these last couple days. The mornings are still a bit fresh, but then later in the day, it gets slightly heated and then cools down once again around four in the afternoon. The birds sing and the wildflowers, especially the pops of red from the poppy flowers make me so happy. There are lilac trees and elderflower trees, that I didn't even know was around us a year ago. I watch our son play, and he is just having a ball playing outside. This season of life I am enjoying so much.

Sweet potato lentil falafels

Sweet potato lentil falafels are my new quick meal dinner addition. I have been through some cookbooks, apps ect. and there are sooo many to choose from. Where do you start? What to make when you have some time to meal prep, but you don't go overboard in the kitchen. These sweet potato lentil falafels are easy, minimal ingredients and super satisfying!

Rhubarb strawberry pie pops

Rhubarb strawberry pie pops are my celebratory pie eating way of welcoming the first of May. Since I don't have the celebratory flower (lily of the valley) that is known as the fist of May, pie has to do the trick!

Banana bread donuts

Banana bread donuts are the equivalent to my match made in heaven. It's a gooey, moist donut with a peanut butter, strawberry maple glaze and it's seriously too addicting. I have been trying to up my donut game since my last vegan donuts was an epic fail and I was over baking them after my son's birthday.

Mushroom Spinach Chickpea waffles

Mushroom Spinach waffles are just YUM. We recently purchased a Tefal snack collection toaster that can do the works like yum toastees, muffins, donuts and Waffles. The sucky thing is that you have to buy the other plates for the donuts etc, but I just love the functionality of an appliance that can do so much. So that's why I certainly can vouch for this product. I can't wait to buy the donut plates so I can bake some donuts already! My son's first birthday and I am already undecisive between a waffle or donut bar? Choices, choices...I have forgotten how much I love the crunchy bite of a fresh waffle. Now I made these with chickpea flour that needs no eggs to get them combined. I just love Chickpea flour. It has a unique taste, but it's seriously so good and loaded with protein.
