Sticky sweet butternut rolls must be the perfect start to 2019. Let me be very honest here, we didn't even make the new year. We passed out around ten and slept through the whole thing, I guess life does change after kids, or are there some diehard parents out there? I celebrated the new year by making these delish sticky butternut rolls. They are completely gluten-free (if you like), vegan and a big favorite side dish of mine. That's my way of celebrating the new year, lots of comfort food!

I can't believe Christmas is only a couple days away. This week has been quite hard because I have been missing my family back in SA so much. I think this time of year is super special and also hard in a lot of ways. For us, it's the fact that life goes on over here and you kind live in these seasons apart from what your family is experiencing back home. They have vacation, sunshine, and togetherness and over here we're kind of slummin it on our own, whilst still working. Therefore I have been baking more than usual, so we can get more of the festive vibes going.

Chai pumpkin churros are essential when the festive season is here. I know churros more as "dough fills" from my childhood. They are a whole other post by themselves and I'm sure going to get up all nostalgic about them, but for now churros, my friends. Not only do these totally vegan churros taste super delish, coated in sugar and dipped in chocolate, but these churros have two special ingredients. Homemade chai spice and sweet mashed pumpkin. Vegan Hertzoggie tart has been on my mind for ages. Hertzoggies is one of my absolute favorite South African desserts ever. They usually come in a small cookie form and is enjoyed over tea and chats late afternoon. I certainly love this tart almost as much as the actual cookies. I have made a smaller cookie version too that I will share with you very soon, but for now this delish tart will take over your taste buds.

Pumpkin french toast sticks are just perfect for international French toast day. They taste amazing. All the infusions of Autumn are there. The hints of gingerbread, the sweetness of the pumpkin and the chocolate sauce are just wonderful. I know I should probably get started on making all those festive recipes, but I am still stuck on pumpkin and fall over here?!

Chocolate speculoos banana bread might be my new addiction, like all my other banana obsessions, this one is right at the top of the list. All things baking are running through my head, and with only so much space to eat everything, banana bread is one of my preferred baked goodies. What makes this loaf so special is the fact that it's loaded with festive vibes all the way. With Christmas only a couple weeks away, I can't help but feel weird about the whole thing. Maybe when kids are involved, you realize finally that time does indeed fly and soon our little munchkin will be two years old. It feels just like yesterday that he was born.
