Turmeric chickpea curry

Turmeric chickpea curry and spelt naan is a perfect, quick and easy comforting meal for these colder evenings. In fact, it feels as though summer is still here with us, but it's quite obvious that winter is on the horizon. When the sun starts setting more earlier each day, I want curry. Not that I don't want to eat it always anyway. a True curry lover loves curry whether it's hot or not- in terms of the wheater that is. I like my curry pretty mild thank you very much and this curry ticks all the boxes for me.

Fig rye banana bread

Fig rye banana bread is a banana bread lover's dream come true. This bread is dense yet light, moist and so delish with the dried figs hidden in there. I absolutely love this bread and will def make it again, again and again. The spelt and rye flours complement the luscious figs so well. I am still dreaming about this loaf.

Prickly pear tapioca pudding

Prickly pear tapioca pudding is utterly amazing whether you decide to have it for breakfast or dessert. I actually ate this bowl of tapioca pudding with my son for breakfast and there was no complaining. It is light and subtly sweetened with juicy hints of prickly pear. I remember we ate these things so much as kids, all sliced up and cold from the fridge. My mother always said we shouldn't eat too much, but they were just too delish. Now I love to use these beauties in savory and sweet dishes.

Sweet potato waffles

Sweet potato waffles have never come at a better time. This weekend, I am home alone once again and the only thing that can feul me with the toddler filled days are of course waffles. Not any old waffle will do. Only sweet potato waffles can do the trick. I went to the farmers' market this morning and I had to time it pretty nicely because sprinting through has to come with a game plan. Snacks, water and a list of to buy's. All the necessities led to a pretty smooth morning and a much-needed nap time afterwards (for the both of us btw).

Fluffy cinnamon pancakes

Fluffy cinnamon pancakes are perfect for a quick Sunday brunch. I always make a big batch of pancakes so I can stow some in my freezer ad a breakfast option or a snack for my little munchkin. He is quite a picky eater when it comes to breakfast and refuses to eat oats, chia pudding, and even smoothies. Porridge? No way. See what I'm dealing with here?

Almond butter cookies

Almond butter cookies are the ultimate toddler snack. I made a quick batch of healthy cookies, just because I was so over buying bio cookies and not knowing whether they are actually any good. I like to know the kinds of foods my son is eating most of the time, even though he is always putting some kind of something in his mouth these days. I swear he has eaten so many leaves, play dough and old food from the ground. At least I know these cookies are nothing but good stuff!

Savory sweet pain perdu

Savory sweet pain perdu is known as french toast. The famous French dish is typically a way to use old bread and make it new again. Oh and what a way to make it new, especially fried up in coconut oil topped with sweet potato, maple coconut soy bacon and drizzle with copious amounts of maple syrup. Thank you, the French, you know what's good about living.

Sour cherry lavender ice cream

Sour cherry lavender ice cream is a combo that is hard to forget. The combination of flavors is just absolutely amazing. I was never a big fan of lavender just because of the obvious fact that it tastes like soap, but just a tint with the sour cherries kind of works for me. The french is quite into lavender, especially in Provance. We went to visit a couple of years back, and the smell of lavender is just so intoxicating.

Banana bread cheesecake slices

Banana bread cheesecake slices have been haunting me for a couple weeks now. I aced the recipe within the first try, but to shoot these beauties perfectly was difficult indeed. To capture their deliciousness was truly a challenge. Without melted chocolate or caramel to seal the deal...anything indeed can look delectable. But these do not need the glorification of caramel to make them look delectable. They already are, sans caramel and all.

Summer potato salad

Summer potato salad is just a perfect combo when evenings are being spent outside. Lately, we have been firing up the BBQ almost every second night and that is a regular when you live in South Africa. Some families BBQ almost every night, just because it is so social, and we are pretty social people. It has been quite a change when we moved to France because first of all BBQing for yourself is not a lot of fun, haha and secondly what do you make with the meat that you can eat with the leftovers the next day? Potato salad of course...
