Almond butter cookies

Almond butter cookies are the ultimate toddler snack. I made a quick batch of healthy cookies, just because I was so over buying bio cookies and not knowing whether they are actually any good. I like to know the kinds of foods my son is eating most of the time, even though he is always putting some kind of something in his mouth these days. I swear he has eaten so many leaves, play dough and old food from the ground. At least I know these cookies are nothing but good stuff!

Broccoli quinoa corn patties

Broccoli quinoa corn patties are a quick lunch alternative when you're on the go. Loaded with plant-based protein and super filling for those days when you need it the most. Serve with a salad, healthy carbs or as a patty on a vegan burger bun. I made a whole batch of these and froze the rest to eat later. It's a win-win, healthy plus easy is what I need right now.

Savory sweet pain perdu

Savory sweet pain perdu is known as french toast. The famous French dish is typically a way to use old bread and make it new again. Oh and what a way to make it new, especially fried up in coconut oil topped with sweet potato, maple coconut soy bacon and drizzle with copious amounts of maple syrup. Thank you, the French, you know what's good about living.

Hazelnut brownies

Hazelnut brownies have been on my mind for some time. I looked at raw options (too much effort and dishes) I tried some vegan versions but the texture just wasn't right. Then I just decided that I was going to give my own spin on this ever so delish dessert. So obviously a brownie has to be crusty on the outside and dense on the inside and so chewy and smooth when eaten.

Sour cherry lavender ice cream

Sour cherry lavender ice cream is a combo that is hard to forget. The combination of flavors is just absolutely amazing. I was never a big fan of lavender just because of the obvious fact that it tastes like soap, but just a tint with the sour cherries kind of works for me. The french is quite into lavender, especially in Provance. We went to visit a couple of years back, and the smell of lavender is just so intoxicating.

Banana bread cheesecake slices

Banana bread cheesecake slices have been haunting me for a couple weeks now. I aced the recipe within the first try, but to shoot these beauties perfectly was difficult indeed. To capture their deliciousness was truly a challenge. Without melted chocolate or caramel to seal the deal...anything indeed can look delectable. But these do not need the glorification of caramel to make them look delectable. They already are, sans caramel and all.

Peppermint crisp cups

Peppermint crisp cups are absolutely amazing... These desserts have been a lifesaver this week, just because we have come close to melting. The heat has been crazy this whole week. I made these cups one evening and they were so much enjoyed after we had a barbeque.

Cherry plum galettes

Think-Cherry plum galettes! This heat has been unbearable these last couple days. I've always loved summer over winter, but lately, I am overthinking things. What do you eat when it's 35 degrees Celsius outside? and what to do with a 17month old in this heat!? That indeed is the question.

Rooster koek waffles

Let me introduce you to Roosterkoek if you're not in the know. These are pretty legendary in South Africa. They are the perfect carb loaded bite with a braai (BBQ), a festival filled cheese loaded lunch snack or late night feast item. The best way to eat it is hot off the BBQ or let me tell you, these Roosterkoek waffles are a game changer.
